KALTENBACH MÉLANIE: over 25 years' experience as a luthier
Mélanie Kaltenbach is first and foremost a love story between a musician and antique stringed instruments. Indeed, my passion for violins and cellos led me to learn more about how they are made and cared for, in order to help both novice and experienced musicians in their art. Thanks to 40 years of practice and 25 years working in my own workshop, I have mastered every aspect of stringed instrument design and repair, enabling me to offer you quality products. I am committed to putting my expertise at the disposal of musicians to enable them to express themselves directly through their violin or cello.
My background :
- Prix 2022 du "Savoir-faire en transmission" awarded by the Bureau du Design, de la Mode et des Métiers d'Arts de la Ville de Paris.
- Contract holder for instrument maintenance at Paris municipal conservatories since 2017.
- Titular luthier at the Académie Jaroussky's Seine Musicale since 2018.
- Collaborative work with Proquartet.
- Winner of the 2016 Rotary Club of Paris arts and crafts competition.
- Member of Trio Musicae (Ensemble Musicae) since 2017.
- Trained by Patrick Robin from 1996 to 1999.
I also obtained:
- A 1st Conservatory Prize in cello and chamber music
- A sound and instrument-making prize for my contemporary instrument creations in 2009 with a viola.
- Graduate of the Newark-en-Trent school - Upper merite.
